Concept and principle of water resistant cement

Water resistant cement is a concrete with a certain waterproofing representative included. Its primary function is to enhance the thickness and impermeability of concrete by altering the microstructure of concrete and reducing the number and size of capillary pores. Generally, water resistant cement will include water resistant materials such as sodium silicate and potassium silicate during the manufacturing process. Advantages and drawbacks of waterproof concrete

Advantages

Practical construction: The use of water-proof cement is similar to that of normal cement, and no extra specialist abilities are called for.

Low cost: Compared with other high-end water resistant products, the rate of water-proof cement is much more inexpensive and suitable for large-scale water resistant tasks.

Good sturdiness: The waterproof concrete layer, after correct construction, can maintain its waterproofness for a long time and is hard to age.

Negative aspects

Limitations: Water resistant cement is generally used for mild to modest water infiltration troubles. For serious water pressure and long-term immersion environments, the effect may not be just as good as specialist water-proof coatings.

High building needs: Construction should be performed strictly based on the guidelines or else the anticipated impact may not be achieved.

High maintenance needs: Once the water-proof layer is damaged, repair is extra complicated.
