Canon introduced a new engine from a famous series of EOS digital SLR - the EOS 550D.

With 18-Megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor combined with the advanced DIGIC 4 image processor and the ability to shoot movies in HD, Model 550D is a good response to the needs of advanced amateurs.

Advanced Canon DIGIC image processor 4, and 18-Megapixel supports ISO of 100 - 6400 (expandable to 12800), and noise reduction technology enhances the quality of images taken in low light. 14-bit image processing helps to smooth tonal gradation and naturalness of color - both on printouts and on screen.

To ensure fast and accurate focus, EOS 550D is equipped with a 9-point autofocus with a one-point cross with increased sensitivity in the middle frame for lenses f/2.8 or faster. EOS 550D also supports quick pictures with the frequency 3.7 continuous frames per second.
EOS 550D is also equipped with a measuring system iFCL, first used in the EOS 7D. New in the EOS series is the ability to set an upper threshold of the automatic sensitivity setting, which allows users to control the maximum level of noise in pictures. For the first time in the low-end EOS camera, you can set exposure compensation and bracketing the appropriate plus or minus five and two steps, allowing the photographer to make a few different versions of the same exposed shots.

EOS 550D video recording with full 1920x1080p resolution, allowing to set the preferred frequency of 30, 25 or 24 frames per second and 720p video recorded with a frequency of 60 and 50 frames per second. The camera is also equipped with a stereo 3.5 mm jack, microphone jack, which allows you to connect an external microphone while shooting movies.

Photographers can also take manual control over exposure settings, changing the depth of field and the amount of blur caused by motion. To obtain the highest possible video quality, you can independently set the priority for the bright tones (highlight tone priority, HTP) shooting mode without changing the settings of photography.
