The whole affair had its origins much earlier. In 2006, eBay bought Skype for the trivial sum of 2.6 billion dollars, but the rights to the software, which is the heart of the communicator remained in the hands of two of its creators, who formed the company Joltid. Some time ago it appeared that the new owners of Skype Joltid acquired by an unauthorized source release of the communicator, it introduced some changes, and forbidden to use the software to third parties. When this information came to light, the company Joltid withdrawn its consent to the use of its software with Skype, while going from eBay to court.

Joltid company representative said that each day of the copyright to use the Skype software are violated and the company will vigorously defend its rights to use technology developed by it. At the same time informed that in the U.S. alone, every day use Skype at least 100 000 people, therefore, the company estimates its losses at about 75 million dollars a day.

Whether the second trial of the owners of the popular instant messaging will lead to its collapse and withdrawal from the market, and thus the end of the voice conversations using VoIP technology? Not necessarily. Some time ago, eBay announced it is developing its own technology, which will be able to replace Joltid solutions, while representatives of the owner of Skype, however, admitted that their solution will certainly not be as advanced as the software used so far.
