Switzerland sued Google

Swiss Organization for the Protection of Privacy intends to file a lawsuit against Google because of its service Street View. The authorities claim that the Internet giant is not enough carefully hides the faces of people in their photographs of Swiss cities.

Hanspeter Thuer, Commissioner for the protection of privacy of Switzerland, announced that it plans to file a lawsuit against the internet giant in the Federal Administrative Court, reports the AP.

According to the tug, the company refused to follow some of its recommendations after the launch of Street View in August 2009 So, those of the Swiss were not sufficiently diluted, which is why many people have expressed their dissatisfaction with the appearance of some photographs near hospitals, schools or prisons.

Recall that service Street View allows users to view panoramic images of streets, taken at the level of human growth with special cameras mounted on vehicles.

Representatives of Google, in turn, stated that they provide opportunities for all wishing to protect their privacy. Each person can contact Google and ask them to remove images of his property from Street View.

The company also notes that negotiated with the organizations to protect the confidentiality and offered them to express all their concerns. "We are proud of the technology used in Street View to blur those rooms and cars, and are confident that our product conforms to all laws" - the statement says Google.

Earlier in 2009, Google has already faced a similar problem in the U.S., where a couple from Pennsylvania is suing the company, accusing it of breach of confidentiality. The court ruled in favor of internet giant, saying that "absolute privacy does not exist.
