Official announcement of the media player iriver Smart HD

Officially announced Smart HD player on the Korean iriver (formerly, `working 'name - iriver K1). This is the first for the company model that supports playback of HD-files.

Sales appear four versions of the player. Basic - from memory to 8 GB (about $ 204), 8-GB version with support for DMB-TV ($ 248) version of 16 GB ($ 266) and the model with support for DMB and Wi-Fi ($ 310).

All players will be equipped with a new series of 3,5 `` display with a resolution 480h320 pixels. Multitouch screen displays 16 million shades of colors. You can use the microSD memory card type.

Supports playback of MP3, WMA, OGG, FLAC, APE, WAV and AC3 audio files, MKV, AVI, WMV, MP4, TP, MPG and ASF video, it is possible to view images JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF, and RAW, as well as documents in formats txt, DOC, XLS, PPT, PDF, HWP, HTML, HTM and MHTML.

Battery capacity - 880 mAh, according to the manufacturer, it will last for 18 hours of audio playback or 6 hours - video.

With half of the models in the series supports the Korean standard broadcasting DMB, expect their sales in other regions is unlikely to account.

Once again, a GREAT device fromi River - but PLEASE noe, -

T-DMB is NOT a Korean standard.

It is a subset of the European Eureka 147 family of Digital Radio. Korea has firmly embraced the protocol for Mobile TV - but it is not the only country to hae adopted T-DMB - or that is looking at it forthefuture delivery of mobile TV.

As most of the countries outside the US have adopted Eureka 147 for their Digital Radio services - or are in the process of doing so, it is highly likely that the number of countries using T-DMB will increse and the market for such devices grow accordingly - NOT just in Korea though.
