AMD is ahead of NVIDIA in supplier of discrete graphics

It seems that the efforts of Advanced Micro Devices to market DirectX 11 compatible graphics, begun last year with the release adapters series ATI Radeon HD 5800, are beginning to bear fruit. Anyway, in the second quarter of this year, AMD took the lead over their competitors from NVIDIA in the important category of graphics market as the supply of discrete graphics cards.

According to research firm Mercury Research, in the last quarter of the share of AMD in the market of discrete graphics has reached 51 percent, while the NVIDIA remaining 49 percent of the market. We note that a year ago the situation was different - 59 percent of the market of discrete graphics reserved the company from Santa Clara, while the share of the manufacturer with headquarters in Sunnyvale accounted for 41 percent.

As for the graphics market as a whole, including the integrated and discrete solutions, in the second quarter of leadership, Intel has maintained a share of 54.3 per cent (due to supply IGP). As for AMD and NVIDIA, these players were on the second and third place with indicators of 24,5 and 19,8 percent respectively.
