UFC 235 Preview

The next opponent for Jones is the veteran fighter Anthony Smith who will be vying for his title in UFC 235. I think if Ben and him sat down and I could be there, maybe I could help. "I'm putting my country on the map and I can't wait to bring the UFC back to my home". It's just about as tough an opening assignment as you can hand a debuting fighter, but for one who insists he's the best of the best, it's no less than Askren was expecting. These two 135-pounders are extremely fast paced fighters with slick boxing techniques.

UFC president Dana White seems to have confirmed that Daniel Cormier vs Brock Lesnar is next, although earlier in the week he said that he hadn't spoken to Brock and that he "still had obligations" with WWE. He lost by knockout in both matches after capturing the title with a win against Dominic Cruz. I always envisioned that [being a champion] and having Dana wrapping that belt around me and just knowing all those things I was fighting for. "I'm going to take it.' I'm here to compete, and that's it". In a fight that featured an insane amount of violence, drama, suspense, heart and controversy packed into just over three minutes of action, Askren survived almost being stopped to submit former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler on Saturday at UFC 235 in Las Vegas. The heart and will power of Lawler has been the difference in many of his fights. An additional four prelim bouts followed on ESPN at 8 p.m. ET, with the night's five-fight main card aired live on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET.

This is a classic case of a technical striker vs a brawler. Although the general consensus remains that Jones is one of the best fighters to ever step foot inside the octagon, his troubles with substance abuse and constant suspensions remain a powerful asterisk next to his accomplishments.

Jeremy Stephens is nothing to sneeze at.

"When it comes to mixing this s- up, I'm the best [expletive] welterweight on this planet", an excited and emotional Usman said.

Saturday's fights will keep fans on the edge of their seats and definitely will be well worth the watch.

Do you think we'll see these two wrestling specialists fight in the near future? I really do, or I wouldn't be here.

I'll side with the former bantamweight champ to get back in the win column but don't be too surprised if Munhoz gets the upset. It'll be one great fight after another as the UFC delivers for us once again.

Torres will provide the sternest test of Zhang's career but I think Zhang's physicality and more punishing strikes will be the decider.
