Wells Fargo Outage: Website, App Down and Not Working, Gateway Error

KCBS Radio received a report from a Wells Fargo customer in Hawaii confirming the problem extended there as well.

An hour later the company posted about the problem again, but offered no timetable on when it would be fixed.

This is the second time in less than a week that Wells Fargo has had issues. The problem affected customers using web browsers as well as the Wells Fargo mobile app.

The US giant took to Twitter at about 9am EST to confirm an "issue", promising to research.

A spokeswoman says the bank is working to restore all services as soon as possible.

Wells Fargo saids it apologized for the inconvenience caused by these system issues and that any Wells Fargo fees incurred as a result of these issues will be reversed.

The Wells Fargo logo is seen on a sign outside of a Wells Fargo Home Mortgage branch office March 20, 2007, in San Francisco, California.

Even so, customers on Friday morning complained via Twitter about not receiving their direct deposits, while others said they still couldn't access their accounts.

Outraged customers reported they could not access their accounts on the Wells Fargo app or website, use ATMs, or even make purchases with their debit cards.

Wells Fargo officials said smoke was detected at a facility prompting them to shut down its system.
