"I can announce that we managed to get the services of Benjamin Pavard from July 1, 2019", Salihamidzic told reporters during a Bayern training camp in Qatar, without giving any financial details of the transfer.

Bayern have been very public about their desire to sign Hudson-Odoi in recent weeks, sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic said they "absolutely want to sign" him earlier this week.

The latest is believed to meet Chelsea's valuation of the player and Bayern Munich are awaiting a response.

"So, why wouldn't he think about moving somewhere else if a club like Bayern Munich are in for him?"

If Hudson-Odoi moves to Munich, he will become the third English teenager in the Bundesliga alongside Jadon Sancho, 18, who left Manchester City for Borussia Dortmund in 2017, and Riess Nelson, 19, on loan from Arsenal at Hoffenheim until July.

Callum Hudson-Odoi should stay at Chelsea because he has finally won a place in the first team he could retain, according to one former player.

He said: "We've proposed a contract for quite a while, so we're waiting".

Although Bayern are regarded as one of the heavyweights of European football, Alonso feels Chelsea can match them if they Hudson-Odoi is prepared to be patient and wait for his chance.

"To be honest, of all the young players I have seen at Chelsea, he is the shooting star for me", Rudiger added.

"Today it created a lot of confusion, I don't know what they have to do, but they have to explain it properly to the linesmen and referee to us, because if the guy stopped then I don't know why play kept going". He is a young lad and has less pressure so he can show what he can do.

"We don't need to speak about him too much". But he is still 18 and at that age you can't look too far [ahead].

The only way the club can convince him to stay appears to be with game time - and Sarri could make a statement by keeping faith with him for Saturday's clash with Newcastle.
