Smart Works, which helps women regain the skills, confidence and tools to succeed in job interviews, is one of the four organizations which Markle has become Royal Patron. Queen Elizabeth, 92, has passed on her patronages of the National Theater and the Association of Commonwealth Universities, which she has held for decades, to Meghan, who married the queen's grandson a year ago.

The Duchess of Sussex was on hand to give fashion tips when she visited the Smart Works in London.

Kensington Palace revealed that Meghan has secretly visited Smart Works several times over the past year, as well as the other three organisations, and has got to know the people involved well during that time.

The Director of the National Theatre, Rufus Norris, said it was a "privilege to welcome The Duchess of Sussex as our new Patron", adding that Meghan "shares our deeply-held conviction that theatre has the power to bring together people from all communities and walks of life".

The actress is a huge supporter of animal welfare. "We would like to thank Her Majesty The Queen for her support, and we look forward to working closely with The Duchess as our Patron".

She started campaigning for gender equality at an early age, writing to the then U.S. first lady, Hillary Clinton, at the age of 11, lamenting a washing-up liquid's TV ad strapline: "Women all over America are fighting greasy pots and pans".

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had originally planned to raise their first child in a new apartment near where Prince William and Kate Middleton live in Kensington Palace. "No one bothers them there", the insider said.

"So to know, as a woman coming in, I would imagine, (knowing) that you have so many others believing in you, on all the next phases, is the piece that makes it so special". The dress, named the Eliza Dress, is the first maternity dress she's worn since her pregnancy announcement in October.

Buckingham Palace said that "patronages generally reflect the interests of the member of the Royal Family involved".

However, this isn't the last of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at Kensington Palace, the estate will still serve as home base for their official offices and headquarters.
