24 Y.O. Man Dead After Alleged Stabbing At Church Of Scientology In Sydney

It is not clear whether the two victims were members of the Church of Scientology, and whether the attack happened in the centre or outside.

The teenager was arrested and taken to Chatswood police station.

The second victim was in a stable condition after being treated at the same hospital for a minor injury.

The teen was being escorted out of the church in Sydney's Chatswood district about 12:30 p.m. Thursday when he began attacking the two staff members with a 10-inch kitchen knife, Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) reported.

"With that knife he stabbed a 24-year-old".

"It was a domestic incident, it does not, as far as I know, relate to the Scientology premises here", Detective Chief Inspector Jones said. "The church is providing the police with any assistance needed in their investigation".

When officers arrived on the scene, the alleged assailant immediately obeyed orders to drop the weapon after being confronted by officers with Tasers.

A 16-year-old has been arrested after the incident at Chatswood at 12.30pm.

The teenager was reportedly led off the grounds by police, handcuffed and with paper bags covering both hands.

A young Scientologist, who asked not to be identified, told AAP his mum was inside the facility and he'd been stopped from entering to see her.

After his mother told Scientology staff what had happened between them the day before, they chose to move him off the premises, a church source told the Telegraph.

A teenager is under arrest and a man is dead after a stabbing at the Sydney headquarters of the Church of Scientology.

"It's a huge building, a lot of people come from around Asia to study here", he said.

The 13,500 square metre building - which was opened in September 2016 - is the largest Scientology centre outside the United States.

"It offers a lot of services other (Scientology properties) don't".

The church on its website says the "Ideal Advanced Organisation in Sydney provides advanced religious services to Scientologists from across Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific region".

Nine News reported that the site, which originally hosted Australia's National Acoustic Laboratory, was sold to the Church of Scientology for approximately $37 million in 2014.
