The makers of Stranger Things know we're hopelessly obsessed, and they do an unusually brilliant job of stoking the fires of our interest just the right amount.

In March, executive producer Shawn Levy gave attendees at the PaleyFest television festival some scoop on what would be going down in season 3, which is set in 1985.

Get ready for a unusual new year: Netflix has announced the premiere date for Stranger Things Season 3, which will be released on July 4, 2019.

The tagline reads: 'One summer can Change everything'. Netflix delivered a gift to USA viewers at the stroke of midnight, East Coast time, just as 2018 slipped into 2019, revealing the season-three premiere date for the hit streaming show.

Season 3 of the worldwide sci-fi thriller hit is making its Netflix debut on July 4, 2019.

New year, new threat from the Upside Down?

David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper in the series, previously discussed how the new season will draw inspiration from Chevy Chase's 1985 comedy Fletch. As the countdown begins and the ball begins to drop, the video is interspersed with technological glitches before it cuts to a computer screen with command logs from Lynx Corp reading "when blue and yellow meet in the west" and "SilverCatFeeds".

Stranger Things stars Winona Ryder, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton and Joe Keery.

The titles of the next batch of episodes are "Suzie, Do You Copy?"
