Winter storm to hit New Mexico starting Thursday night

Winter weather advisory for Cascades through Thursday

Winter weather advisory for Cascades through Thursday

A collision between a small bus and an SUV in Minnesota killed a 47-year-old woman on the bus and injured nine others Thursday.

"I didn't want to spend 3 days in the airport, missing out on the holidays - New Year's and all that", Anthony Scott told Texas television station KDFW at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

Blowing and drifting snow could make for extremely hard travel conditions this evening, the Weather Service reported. "This was my little vacation".

The South Dakota Department of Transportation said there were many no-travel advisories that remained in effect Friday. In addition, blowing snow will limit visibility. "Crews are working but mother nature is making safe travel tough".

And the storm system is not done yet, as it is forecast to bring heavy rain further east on Friday.

The 10-inch report from a Weather Service spotter was about 12 miles northwest of Silver Bay along Lake County Highway 11, with that road almost impassable in a four-wheel-drive truck, the spotter reported.

The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

The weather service predicted the misery would continue through the weekend. Another storm system coming from the Pacific Northwest was expected to move down to the Southwest and Great Basin area by Friday, causing heavy rain and snow there as well, according to the NWS.

Whiteout conditions in parts of the Midwest have caused at least one death and several road closures, while the Southeast braces for torrential rain and flooding. This will make travel very hard or impossible.especially in the mountains.

That storm shut down NY and Washington, leaving 15 people dead and impacting some 85 million residents.

"Severe storms including damaging winds and an isolated tornado are possible along the Gulf Coast from Louisiana to Alabama today", Garrett said Thursday.
