There, you just need to tell the water company what you'd do instead of scrolling through your phone for a year using the hashtags #nophoneforayear and #contest.

- Do you think you could make it one day without your smartphone?

The victor, which Vitaminwater will select, will be able to enter a contract for a smartphone-free year for a prize of $100,000, with $10,000 if you make it six months. The company unveiled a challenge for 2019 with an award of $100,000 to a person who can prove they went without their smartphone for 365 days. Some poor employees at Vitaminwater will then sift through the entries and choose winners, who will be given a dumb-phone for the year.

To enter, all you need to do is share a message with Vitaminwater on Twitter or Instagram.

Vitaminwater offered a small guide for participants interested in the challenge. "This means you may not physically operate, caress, hug or otherwise be physically affectionate with anyone's smartphone", it says.

That's what beverage brand Vitaminwater is hoping you can do for a 12-month period in a new contest. You can also continue using your laptop or desktop (but not a tablet) and your Echo or Google Home-type device. If you're tempted to cheat, don't do it: Vitaminwater said there will be a lie detector test to make sure you truly unplugged.
