Google Fit update brings home screen widgets and a breathing coach

A second widget is able to show detailed data such as steps taken, calories burned and miles traveled. In addition, Google Fit also displays your last workout on the app's home screen. Several months later Google is back with yet another update that adds some nifty features to the Android app.

Google said that the update is the result of user feedback and that the update comes "just in time for the busy holiday, to make it easier to achieve your health goals." .

According to Google, these updates will be rolled out to Android phones and Wear OS smartwatches this week, so keep your eyes peeled for a new update if you have Google Fit app installed on your device. Other new features include a deeper workout report, including a Global Positioning System map, and the option to adjust intensity when manually adding a workout in the Journal tab. So you can view your Heart Points, Move Points and additional activity tracking metrics without having to launch the app or checking in on your notification tray. If you're big into Fit, and still use widgets, it's a must have. This enables the app to analyze it more accurately and produce Heart Points (a reward for increasing your heart rate during exercise).

The only downside is that the breathing exercises are only available on Wear OS for now.

The update will roll out throughout this week. Tell us about your experiences.
