After a funeral route that will take the late President by plane from Houston to Washington D.C. and back again, a Union Pacific train led by a locomotive dubbed the "Bush 4141" will carry him to the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library in College Station, Texas.

"For more than 60 years, George Herbert Walker Bush has been my friend and my role model", Baker eulogized the 41st president at St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Houston. Former president Woodrow Wilson is buried in one of the crypts, and the cathedral is also the final resting place of Helen Keller and, most recently, Matthew Shepard.

Former President George H.W. Bush and granddaughter Barbara Bush arrive aboard Air Force One at Andrews Air Force Base Md., May 11, 2008.

George P. Bush, the former president's grandson and the only member of the political dynasty still holding elected office, as Texas land commissioner, subsequently struck a more personal tone with the man he and the younger generations called "gampy". Others were given by Bush biographer Jon Meacham and former Republican senator Alan Simpson. The president shook hands with the Obamas, who were closest to him, but no greeting was exchanged between him and the nearby Clintons. Prince Charles, Barack and Michelle Obama, President Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton were just a few of the people who attended the service.

Bush died November 30 at his home in Houston. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump visited with Bush and Laura Bush at the White House on Tuesday, and later went to Blair House, across the street, later in the day.

Bush and former first lady Michelle Obama have reminded us of that fact twice this year.

Trump closed the federal government on Wednesday to mark a day of mourning for Bush, and several USA financial exchanges were closed.

Tens of thousands of Americans quietly filed in to the Capitol to pay their respects to a man who steered the nation through turbulent times including the end of the Cold War - and in a style dramatically different from the bombast and combativeness championed by the current commander-in-chief. Former Sen. Bob Dole, a compatriot in war, peace and political struggle, steadied himself out of his wheelchair and saluted his old friend and one-time rival.

Trump ordered the federal government closed Wednesday for a national day of mourning. Flags on public buildings are flying at half-staff for 30 days. "I can't fake the funk, as they say", Lemon said.

A patrician figure, Bush was voted out of office in part for failing to connect with ordinary Americans during an economic recession.

Trump, no fan of the Bush family, has mocked "points of light" at recent campaign rallies, preferring his own protectionist philosophy of "America first".
