Wanted: NYPD seeks couple who lost engagement ring in Times Square

The bride-to-be, Daniella, tweeted Sunday that her fiancé John proposed in Central Park, but the ring was too big and fell off while they were walking in Times Square on Friday.

Police on Saturday afternoon tweeted surveillance video of the couple in Times Square, with a message: We have the ring. They managed to recover the stunning ring on Saturday, and cleaned it up.

The tweet received more than 31,000 likes and almost 19,000 retweets.

The man had chosen to pop the question shortly before midnight at the NY landmark.

The couple then left the area.

'If anyone can find this (un) lucky couple, it's New Yorkers and the millions who visit Times Square'.

This proposal was more modest.

Police say they hope someone can help track down the couple so that they can return their engagement ring. He asked a police officer for help opening the grate, but they couldn't get it open.

NYPD Commissioner James O'Neill urged twitter to "do its thing" and reunite the couple with their ring.

"We would like to thank everyone who shared this story!" the NYPD wrote on Twitter.

They also posted a photo of the ring itself. Even before the ring made it home, the woman had said yes.
