Sen. Lindsey Graham May Punish Saudi Arabia for Jamal Khashoggi's Murder

The action comes as Crown Prince Mohammed seeks to move on from the global controversy surrounding the murder of a journalist, Jamal Khashoggi, at a Saudi Consulate last month in Istanbul.

TUNIS - Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman arrived in Tunisia on Tuesday, a Tunisian presidency source said.

He is planned to hold talks with President Sisi on ways to boost bilateral relations as well as on political issues of common concern in light of the strategic partnership binding the two countries. Moreover, Corker said that they may look at "additional legislation" targeting the crown prince, potentially even by attaching spending legislation Congress must clear by December 7.

For a second day in a row, Tunisians have taken to the streets of the country's capital to express their anger at a visit by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

"That was the most glaring of inaccurate and wrong assessments, which led to a full-scale war with thousands being killed", he said, speaking at an event hosted by the Beirut Institute. Turkish officials say Khashoggi's body was dismembered in the Saudi embassy in Istanbul last month.

Bahrain's Cabinet and the Shura Council praised the high-level visit by the Saudi crown prince and said it reflects strong bilateral ties.

The crown prince faced an early rebuke during his stopover in Tunisia, where hundreds of protesters gathered late Monday to protest his visit.

Khashoggi's murder also put a spotlight into Saudi Arabia's war in Yemen, with USA lawmakers pushing the Trump administration to stop its support for the Kingdom as a punishment for the killing.

After reports that the Central Intelligence Agency had concluded that bin Salman ordered the killing of Khashoggi, Trump cited the arms deal as one of the key reasons for defending USA relations with Saudi Arabia.

The crown prince was accompanied by the Tunisian president, in an official motorcade, to Cartage presidential Palace.

Bin Salman, who is also Saudi Arabia's defense minister, is known as the architect of the Yemen war.

Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) told NBC's "Meet The Press" on Sunday that he also disagreed with Trump's willingness to turn the other cheek on MBS's apparent involvement in the Khashoggi killing.

Human Rights Watch said its submission was sent to federal judge Ariel Lijo.

In an interview with Sputnik, Saudi energy expert Said al-Shahrani said that "the decision to build a nuclear power plant in the kingdom is the result of serious research that confirmed the need for this step". Furthermore, there are calls from US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and US Secretary of Defence Jim Mattis for a peaceful resolution and ceasefire in Yemen, even though reports have emerged that the U.S. may be taking a step back from a ceasefire in Yemen due to the fear of angering Saudi Arabia, who is a key ally of the US.
