Packers Players Furious With Ty Montgomery for Throwing Tantrum and Disobeying Coaches

NFL Network's Michael Silver reported Monday morning that an anonymous Packers player thought Montgomery chose to disobey coaches and return the kickoff after being benched on the previous series.

Aaron Rodgers can't lead a game-winning drive if he never gets the ball. And (Montgomery's decision to return the kick) - I don't even know what that was.

Todd Gurley and the Los Angeles Rams made a lot of fantasy football players and bettors mad on Sunday afternoon. "That hurt us", another Packers player said, per Silver. "And he had a right to be".

"I made a split second decision on, I don't know if this is going to land on the goal line, so I'm not going to take a knee on the goal line or the half yard line and take a chance at putting the game in the refs' hands".

Los Angeles killed the clock to keep their undefeated record intact. At least one player believed Montgomery's decision to defy orders was sparked by being pulled in favor of Aaron Jones.

Montgomery responded to those quotes and addressed the idea that he was supposed to take a knee on the kickoff rather than returning it.

"They took him out (the previous drive) for a play and he slammed his helmet and threw a fit", one Packers player told Silver.

On third-and-10 with just a minute left, Gurley took the ball on a toss and ran for the first down, with a wide open lane inviting him into the end zone. You know what that was? As far as the drama and non-sense about it, I have nothing to say. "I mean, what the f-- are you doing? I mean, it's '12"! If you have an opportunity to give one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time the ball back with two minutes remaining needing a field goal, you take the guarantee. According to PFF's charting, Adams was on the field for just 25 passing plays against the Rams, meaning he averaged the NFL's weekly high of 5.32 yards per route run.

Rodgers didn't hide his disappointment at the way the game played out, both in a lack of aggressiveness and the game-killing fumble.

But fantasy owners, as well as people who had some money on the game (the Rams were giving 7 to 7.5 to the Packers and could have covered with the TD), were hoping for a different outcome.

"And then to have it end the way it did", Rodgers said. "This game was a bunch of little bulls-- that built up and caught up to us in the end". It's tough for me to trust anyone now, guys talking about how they can trust me. "I'm still in shock".

Green Bay Packers running back and kick returner Ty Montgomery has had a insane past 24 hours.
