The 56-year-old Florida man faces five federal charges - interstate transportation of an explosive, illegal mailing of explosives, threats against former presidents, threatening interstate communications and assaulting federal officers - after his arrest on Friday. He's due to make his first court appearance on Monday.

Aaronson said Sayoc is presumed innocent.

Sayoc, shackled at the wrists and ankles and wearing a tan jail jumpsuit, said little at the hearing but at one point teared up. It is not known whom.

Brooklyn-born Sayoc is being prosecuted in NY, so his Florida hearing will likely be brief and process-oriented.

"This morning, another suspicious package addressed to CNN was intercepted at an Atlanta post office".

The Joint Terrorism Task Force is notifying those whose names are on the alleged target list, the official said, and authorities have warned that other packages may still be out there.

A pipe bomb was sent to CNN's office in New York's Time Warner Center last Wednesday morning.

Sayoc, an aspiring bodybuilder and avid Trump supporter, is accused of sending 14 explosive devices through the mail. He's accused of sending more than a dozen packages to George Soros, Hillary Clinton, former President Barack Obama, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), and others.

Tensions stirred by the rash of pipe bombs ratcheted up even further after a gunman opened fire at a Pittsburgh synagogue on Saturday, killing 11 worshipers while yelling "All Jews must die".

According to his cousin, Sayoc had worked in a strip club as a dancer and bouncer.

"Never in a million years did I think this would play out", she said.

As federal authorities pin down a motive, Sayoc's family attorney Ron Lowy is speaking out.

Sayoc's direct-mail campaign was immediately seized upon as a political football by both Democrats and Republicans as the contentious midterm elections approach.

The FBI said that the bomb squad is responding to the package found on Pryor Street in downtown Atlanta. The official also said that, as part of the investigation, authorities were scrutinizing Sayoc's social media posts.
