Former England manager Glenn Hoddle is "responding well" to treatment after being taken to hospital on Saturday.

Hoddle was due to take part in the football results show BT Score, but the show has been cancelled following his condition.

BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey revealed the news about the former Tottenham and England worldwide player, 61, who now works as a TV pundit.

Dozens wished Hoddle well on social media including former England teammate Gary Lineker who tweeted: "Hugely worrying news that Glenn Hoddle collapsed at the BT studios earlier".

"We're right with you, Glenn".

A club hero at Tottenham, where he played for the majority of a celebrated playing career before later becoming manager in 2001, Glenn Hoddle was capped 53 times by England and scored eight global goals.

"The condition is serious but Glenn is receiving specialist treatment and responding well", a spokesman said.

'I have known Glenn ever since he first burst on to the scene.

Is Glenn one of your all time footballing heroes? "Get well soon, Glenn Hoddle, we're all behind you". All our thoughts are with Glenn and his family'. Thoughts are with him and his family.

'Earlier today, I'm sad to say, Glenn Hoddle was taken ill. "Our thoughts are with you", West Ham wrote on Twitter.

Hoddle then had spells managing Swindon and Chelsea before taking charge of England between 1996 and 1999, giving David Beckham his worldwide debut in 1996.

Hoddle is regarded as one of the most talented players to represent England in recent decades.

His time as manager ended controversially when he was sacked for suggesting disabled people were being made to pay for the sins of past lives.

He then had spells managing Swindon and Chelsea before taking charge of England between 1996 and 1999. He has three children: Zara Marie, Jamie Glenn and Zoe Ann.

Swindon Town added: "We would like to take this moment to send our support and best wishes to Glenn Hoddle".
