Federal Bureau of Investigation agents say they have intercepted a suspicious package intended for former Vice President Joe Biden, after a morning raid on a post office in New Castle, Delaware.

It's unclear if this package is similar in nature to others addressed to prominent Democrats and to the CNN offices in NY on Wednesday.

NY police are investigating a suspicious package addressed to the actor De Niro and sent to his Tribeca property Thursday morning.

An 8th suspicious package was reported at a Tribeca building, the morning after a threatening string of similar packages were sent to top Democrats.

CNN president Jeff Zucker, whose employees were forced to evacuate their NY bureau on Wednesday by the discovery of the pipe bomb in the mail room, slammed the White House for its "complete lack of understanding" about "the seriousness of their continued attacks on the media".

Ms Sanders said the president would "continue to lay out the case" ahead of the mid-term elections, adding: "Americans have a choice to make".

A person affiliated with the Tribeca Film Center was off work when he saw an image on the Internet and elsewhere of the package containing a crude pipe bomb sent to CNN.

X-rays showed that it contained an apparent pipe bomb like the others. The package was placed into a bomb disposal truck and driven to an NYPD firing range in the Bronx.

The wave of suspicious packages sent to prominent Democrats and news organizations that have been critical of President Trump - who has also been reliably critical of the media in response - continues.

The package sent to the actor also had the same return address as the others: that of Democratic US Rep.

One of the explosives was sent to CNN, which prompted the evacuation of the Time Warner Center in Manhattan, where CNN has offices. The one addressed to Holder ended up at the Sunrise, Fla., office because its address to Holder was incorrect, officials said.

"A lot of arrows pointing to Florida", the official told CBS News.

"There is a big difference between comments made and actions taken", she told reporters.

The return address for Mr. Biden's package, along with several others, was a Florida office of Rep. Authorities do not believe she had anything to do with the packages and think she was a potential victim. "I unequivocally condemn any and all acts of violence and terror". "This appalling attack on our democracy must be vigorously prosecuted, and I am deeply disturbed by the way my name was used", Wasserman Schultz said in a statement.

None of the bombs have detonated and nobody has been hurt in any of the incidents.

The US Secret Service intercepted packages addressed to Obama at his Washington home and to Clinton, the 2016 Democratic nominee for president, at the NY state home she shares with former president Bill Clinton.

The building was evacuated after the package was found and has now been re-opened, according to Tribeca Enterprises co-founder Jane Rosenthal.

There is developing news out of Delaware and New York City, where authorities have launched an investigation into suspicious packages addressed to former Vice President Joe Biden and actor Robert De Niro.

The pipe bombs were packed with shards of glass and were intercepted.

These latest discoveries bring the number of total suspicious packages found since Monday up to 10.

The president, meanwhile, accused the media of stirring up "anger" as the United States reels from the series of suspicious packages and pipe bombs.

One package mailed to former Attorney General Eric Holder, who served under Obama, was returned to the office of Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

The FBI has yet to say whether there is a suspect or suspects in the attempted bombings.
