Paul Pogba of Manchester United has had a very public falling out with manager Jose Mourinho

And now, yet another former Manchester United star, and one of Jose Mourinho's most trusted allies, has had his say regarding the current situation at the Mancunian outfit.

At the end of the day, the Red Devils boss informed Pogba that would never have the privilege to captain Manchester United again.

There's talk of Pogba's compatriot Zinedine Zidane replacing Mourinho in the Old Trafford hotseat, but it appears the Portuguese has got a stay of execution with United's comeback win over Newcastle United on the weekend.

Mourinho assumed control of United in 2016 following Louis van Gaal's erratic two years in charge and has, to date, overseen no fewer than 131 matches. "This is my opinion and I would have said that to him, I would say 'No, that's not something to say because you are not the manager'".

"I've been sacked twice and it hurts when people level things at you, in defeat or at bad times, it can get personal and maybe some of it has got personal with Jose".

Despite his struggles at United, Pogba was one of six members France's World Cup squad to be named in the list of 30 nominees for the Ballon d'Or, released by France Football on Monday.

"But, of course, now, just like when I set out to be a footballer when I was a bit younger and you're on that first step of the ladder, that's the target and you try to be as good as you can be".

"There are a lot who deserve [the award], I don't put myself among them", he said.

"I couldn't have done it without them".

"I am there to do what he wants me to do, so it's getting the balance right". But a coach is only as good as his team, so it's not like he can do miracles if the team is not good enough.

"I think time will tell with that one, really".

"I'm in my position as I am at the moment and it feels good for me, so we'll see what the future brings".
