US President Donald Trump demanded answers Wednesday over the disappearance of respected Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi as his top lieutenants pressured Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman over the fate of the Washington Post writer.

Turkish officials have said they believe the Saudi writer and government critic was killed inside his country's consulate in Istanbul after he visited the mission to obtain a document required to marry his Turkish fiancee.

The White House also said U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo followed up with his own call to the Crown Prince, who had forged close ties to the administration, especially Mr Kushner.

WASHINGTON - The United States is actively considering sanctions waivers for countries that are reducing their imports of Iranian oil, a USA government official said on Friday. Nevertheless, traditional business models are no longer sustainable and high-quality publications, like ours, are being forced to look for new ways to keep going. A flurry of activity is seen outside the residence, with men going in and out, until the van parks in the garage.

United States officials have not confirmed Turkish claims that Khashoggi, a U.S. resident and one of the more outspoken critics of the regime of King Salman and his son Prince Mohammed, had been lured to the consulate and murdered by a team of 15 government operatives sent by Riyadh to Istanbul.

Turkey said Tuesday it would search the Saudi Consulate.

"Our expectation is that in making your determination you will consider any relevant information, including with respect to the highest ranking officials in the Government of Saudi Arabia", they said. "We will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates as available".

Iran's crude exports fell further in the first week of October, according to tanker data and an industry source, as buyers sought alternatives ahead of USA sanctions that take effect on November 4.

"I think the sanctions will be very tough", Beard said.

The Post's CEO and Publisher Fred Ryan said, however, that evidence thus far has "suggested [Khashoggi] was a victim of state-sponsored, cold-blooded murder".

"Silence, denials and delays are not acceptable". "We demand to know the truth".

Khashoggi had sought to become a US citizen after living in self-imposed exile since a year ago, fearing repercussions for his criticism of the prince, Cengiz wrote.

Turkey's foreign minister said authorities would search the consulate in Istanbul as part of its investigation into Khashoggi's disappearance, saying Saudi officials were "open to cooperation", although it's unclear when the event would take place.

Saudi Arabia denies involvement in Khashoggi's disappearance.

"When I hear of the arrest of a friend who did nothing that (deserved being) arrested, it makes me feel I shouldn't go", he told the BBC.

Meanwhile, the New York Times reported more harrowing details, based on a source who explained that the planned murder was "a quick and complex operation in which Mr. Khashoggi was killed within two hours of his arrival at the consulate by a team of Saudi agents, who dismembered his body with a bone saw they brought for the objective".

Riyadh insisted the Khashoggi left the building and called the murder claims "baseless".

But State Department deputy spokesman Robert Palladino told reporters they had no such tip.

Speaking of Mohammed, with whom the administration has had a close relationship, Trump said, "I've always found him to be a fine man".

The two sides have cooperated on challenging Iran, on supporting Israel and on the war against the Houthis.
