SEOUL-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo held two hours of talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Pyongyang on October 7, and said the two sides continued to make progress toward denuclearization.

Moon, who held three summits with Kim this year and also brokered the Trump-Kim summit in Singapore, said the "whole world" was watching with keen interest the outcomes of Pompeo's trip.

Trump and Kim held a historic summit there in June that resulted in a vague agreement for the North to denuclearize.

While North Korea has pushed for an early end to sanctions and a formal peace treaty, Kim Jong Un has often praised both Trump and Moon for their dedication to resolving longstanding issues and expressed a desire to set up further meetings with both men.

Shortly after landing at Osan Air Base south of Seoul, Pompeo posted a photograph of himself meeting with Kim, with their top aides in the background.

Pompeo said in Tokyo that it was important to hear from the Japanese leader "so we have a fully coordinated and unified view".

"So is everything OK?" They say the North will never relinquish the weapons that are the only way to make to make sure the Kim family dynasty lives on.

"If you do see concrete action that assures the US, the rest of the world that definitely concrete steps are being taken to eliminate very important parts of their nuclear program, then that's a definite step forward and builds the trust", Kang told The Washington Post in an interview last week.

"It's a very nice day that promises a good future for both countries", Kim told Pompeo through an interpreter as they sat down for the meal.

"Thank you for hosting, president Trump sends his regards", Pompeo said on Sunday. I will give more details later when we are alone", only adding, "I have had a good and productive conversation today.

The pair won the award "for their efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war and armed conflict", Nobel committee chairwoman Berit Reiss-Andersen said in unveiling the winners in Oslo.

According to a message from the presidential Blue House, Moon invited Pompeo to speak to attending media if he wished to make a public statement.

Pompeo thanked him and said, "I don't have much to add".

"Yeah, so we had a great, great visit this morning", Pompeo replied. He said they would develop options, if not finalize, the location and timing of a second Trump-Kim summit.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visits the Foreign Ministry in Tokyo on Saturday before heading to Pyongyang.

Kim and Pompeo met for about two hours, and then had lunch together at the Paekhwawon, or 100 Flowers Garden, a prestigious state guesthouse, for another hour and a half, according to a pool report.

"I dearly hope that your latest visit, as well as the upcoming U.S".

The allies should also consider bringing back the tactical nuclear weapons that the United States withdrew from South Korea in the 1990s to increase pressure on the North and create conditions for mutual nuclear disarmament, Cheon said.

Gridlock has been part and parcel of the negotiation process. We continue to make progress on agreements made at Singapore Summit.

"@SecPompeo had a good meeting with Chairman Kim today in Pyongyang".

While in Japan, Pompeo will meet with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Foreign Minister Taro Kono before he heads to North Korea for just hours on Sunday.

The U.S. President Donald Trump also tweeted about Pompeo's visit to Koreas.
