Meet the prosecutor who pressed for charges against Bill Cosby before #MeToo

"We are taking all of the necessary precautions to ensure Mr. Cosby's safety and general welfare in our institution", Corrections Secretary John Wetzel said, according to KSHB.

SCI Phoenix is brand new, state of the art - and maximum security. Vanity Fair reported that Cosby's other female relatives have a history of publicly defending him, but USA Today said Camille Cosby had rarely been heard from since the allegations against her husband first began to attract widespread attention in October.

The lock-up was built to replace SCI Gaterford, which was built in 1929, and boasts 1,200 full-time employees.

Cosby, once revered as "America's Dad" for playing wise, caring Dr. Cliff Huxtable on "The Cosby Show", is now known as Inmate No. NN7687.

The disgraced comedian's first trial hinged largely on the credibility of a single woman, his one-time friend Andrea Constand, who said he drugged and sexually assaulted her in 2004, and ended in a hung jury.

"I'm sure there will be guys protecting him but they're gonna have to put him in protective custody ... because it takes one nut, ya know?" He could eventually be sent to a state prison that has separate units for geriatric prisoners and programs for sex offenders.

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele responded during his post-sentencing press conference, saying, "I'll just say I'm very confident in the place we are. Maybe house arrest. An old man like that, I don't think that he is going to really last in prison, because he's never really been in prison like that", says local Christina Sterling.

Cosby's lawyers had argued that he should stay out of prison because he is 81 and legally blind.

After the sentencing, Cosby was led out of the courtroom in handcuffs before he was taken to prison.

Cosby will be assessed by prison medical staff, psychologists, and other staff. Now behind bars, Cosby hasn't been having the greatest time.

The state prison system has geriatric inmates, and most of their prisons are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Later, Cosby's publicist, Andrew Wyatt, criticized his client's prison sentence by using an interesting comparison.

Really dude? Really? You're comparing serial rapist Bill Cosby to Jesus H. Christ?

According to CBS News, prosecutors have asked O'Neill to sentence Cosby to five to 10 years in prison.
