President Trump is standing by Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh after another round of allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior, this time from when Kavanaugh was a student at Yale.

Kavanaugh later contributed to prosecutor Kenneth Starr's report into Clinton's affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky, which outlined several grounds for Clinton's impeachment.

McConnell said the Senate would vote soon on confirmation of the 53-year old appellate court judge. The process has been "deeply troubling on both sides", he says, with Democrats legitimately complaining about the withholding of documents related to Kavanaugh and Republicans furious that the Ford allegations were withheld until the 11 hour.

"I knew today was a day of solidarity for women who have come forward against Brett [Kavanaugh] and for all the women who have lived out loud or in silence with the experience of sexual assault", wrote Gabrielle McCaffrey, digital director at the progressive organization Demand Justice. "It's totally political. There's a chance that this could be one of the single most unfair, unjust things to happen to a candidate for anything".

A second allegation of sexual misconduct has emerged against Judge Brett Kavanaugh, a development that has further imperiled his nomination to the Supreme Court.

Some conservatives have questioned whether Ford actually recalls the assault as she's described it, some alleging that, maybe she was assaulted, but that it wasn't Kavanaugh. "In my opinion, it's totally political", Mr. Trump said on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meeting Monday morning. "I am with him all the way".

"Laura Bassett / HuffPost In New York, people wearing black gathered in Washington Square Park, chanting, "Believe survivors" and holding signs that read, "#TimesUp Kavanaugh". It has also forced the White House and Senate Republicans onto the defensive and fueled calls from Democrats to postpone further action on his confirmation.

Four Democratic Senators have been informed and at least two are investigating, according to a bombshell new story by The New Yorker's Ronan Farrow and Jane Mayer. Colorado resident Deborah Ramirez tells The New Yorker Kavanaugh thrust his penis in her face at a party and caused her to touch it without her consent. After "six days of carefully assessing her memories and consulting with her attorney, Ramirez said that she felt confident enough of her recollections" to speak publicly, the report said.

The Associated Press tried reaching Ramirez at her home in Boulder, Colo.

"The consequences are utterly different", she says.

Democrats again called for the FBI to investigate Ford's claims, a request that was unlikely to be met as President Donald Trump and Senate Republicans have said it's unnecessary.

Iowa GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley, the committee chairman, made the announcement official in a statement later Sunday, saying the panel would hear testimony from Ford followed by Kavanaugh on Thursday. "Clearly when it comes to President Trump, elections - in the eyes of Democrats - have no consequences", Sen.

Kavanaugh's nomination hangs precariously. Defections among Republicans would likely block his path to the Supreme Court.

"She has agreed to move forward with a hearing even though the Committee has refused to subpoena Mark Judge", it said.

"I look forward to a vote and for people to come out of the woodwork from 36 years ago and 30 years ago and never mention it, and all the sudden it happens", the president also said.

Kavanaugh was questioned by committee staff last week.

Michael Avenatti, best known as the attorney for former adult film actress Stormy Daniels, announced Sunday that he is representing a third woman "with credible information regarding Judge Kavanaugh".
