Marvel unleashes first trailer for 'Captain Marvel'

"From there, a familiar voice is heard saying QUOTE" War is a universal language.

Marvel Studios' Captain Marvel opens in theatres on March 8, 2019.

Set in the 1990s, the film isn't really an origin story as Captain Marvel already has her powers due to genetic altering by the warrior alien race, the Kree.

That'll come in handy, considering the events which transpired at the end of Avengers: Infinity War.

The internet is ablaze with excitement over the Captain Marvel trailer, and we are here for it.

Feige said that the Nick Fury in Captain Marvel is a man 'who thought the Cold War is over [so] the best days are behind him. Of course, while we know she'll be working with S.H.I.E.L.D., she won't be a full-fledged agent. We also know from reports that the other race will be the shape-shifting Skrulls led by Ben Mendelsohn's Talos.

As for Guardians of the Galaxy's Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace), it's an interesting opportunity to meet a villain before he goes rogue, as it appears that the eventual Kree-warlord will also be in pursuit of unsafe and shapeshifting Skrulls.

Both Marvel and DC Comics - the giants of the cinematic superhero world - have had massive successes in recent years with blockbusters that shatter the mold of what a traditional superhero looks like.

Also featured in the trailer was a glimpse of Carol's best friend and fellow Air Force pilot, Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch, Still-Starcrossed), whose daughter Monica goes on to become the second Captain Marvel in the comics.

Gemma Chan, most recently seen in Crazy Rich Asians, will play Minn-Erva, a sniper and member of the Kree Starforce.
