Nintendo's Switch NES controllers will be available for pre-order on 18 September and will begin shipping in December 2018.

The premium service was originally slated to arrive in late 2017, but was eventually pushed back by nearly a year.

Before you start paying, Nintendo is offering a week free for you to see if it's something you really want to pay for. For individual memberships, one, three and 12-month subscriptions will cost $3.99, $7.99 and $19.99, respectively.

The service also unlocks access to a library of NES games, including Super Mario Bros.

Nintendo said it plans to release a 6.0.0. firmware update for the Switch console soon that will include a paywall for online multiplayer as well as classic NES games. The same studio who made those ports happen, Tantalus Media, is the one responsible for the Switch port as well.

Nintendo has announced that it will roll out a new Switch update on September 18, created to lock user profiles to their linked Nintendo Accounts. I'm not actually excited for Switch Online at all so far, but I also don't play any video games online. So... You can make use of a seven-day free trial by signing up on the Nintendo eShop starting September 18. You will only be able to unlink a user account from a Nintendo Account until 8 p.m. ET on Sep.
