President Barack Obama called for the'restoration of honesty and decency and lawfulness in our government and ripped President Donald Trump

White House economist Kevin Hassett admitted Monday that President Donald Trump was wrong in claiming GDP growth was higher than the unemployment rate for the first time in more than a century.

Gasparino was writing in response to a tweet from Wall Street Journal columnist Kimberley Strassel.

He pointed out it was the first time in 10 years that GDP growth exceeded the unemployment rate.

Gasparino responded with a mix of snark and anger.

In a rare breaking of ranks, Fox Business host, Charles Gasparino, called out President Donald Trump on Tuesday, writing on Twitter, "when was the last time [Donald Trump] said something that wasn't filled with utter bull s**t?" Obama also made a problematic claim that Republican "sabotage" has cost 3 million people their health insurance. "When you hear how great the economy's doing right now, let's just remember when this recovery started", he said in a speech kicking off a midterm campaign blitz.

The president seemed to be imprecisely referencing remarks made by Obama at a town hall event in 2016, in which he questioned promises from Trump regarding manufacturing jobs, not economic growth.

"When you don't tell the truth, when you just flat-out lie so much, how do you have any credibility, how can we believe that when it's the president himself who's lied thousands of times since he took the oath of office?" "And usually the answer is, he doesn't have an answer".

When Hassett on Monday was asked to expand on Trump's tweet and his apparent error, he said to reporters, "I'm not the chairman of the Council of Twitter Advisers".

"I have to kind of remind them, actually", he said in an address in IL, "those job numbers are the same as they were in 2015 and 2016".

But economists tell AFP the truth is closer to splitting the baby: neither president is exclusively responsible and yet both deserve some of the credit for an economic recovery that without a doubt began under Mr Obama.
