Apple announces three new iPhones amid leaks

However, a last minute leak has confirmed the names of Apple's new iPhones that will be called as iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.

Samsung and Huawei - who along with Apple make up the top three phone makers by market share - have already launched critically acclaimed flagship smartphones this year, placing more pressure on Apple to deliver with its latest iPhone. As expected, the phones will now come with up to 512GB of storage, up from the 256GB max on last year's models.

Apple holds special event Wednesday, and excitement is building up over another expensive iPhone. This gives the device a bigger display than an iPhone 8 Plus in a smaller overall handset.

The company is in the unique situation of controlling the hardware and software in its mobile devices, with content for users required to go through its App Store that takes a percentage of revenue.

But if you are new to the iOS 12 game, or have just bought an iPhone or iPad, then you will be pleased to learn that the update is packed with a bunch of new features which is sure to breathe new life into your OS.

The third model, with an expected 15.5-centimetre display, has intrigued analysts the most. It's powered by the same A12 Bionic chip as the iPhone XS, and packs a single 12-MP wide angle camera with optical image stabilization and portrait mode capabilities (yes, from a single lens). Colour choices for the Apple Watch look to be limited to silver, space gray, and gold, however it seems there will be a few interesting new band options from Nike and Hermès along with a number of new colourful silicone iPhone cases (available in midnight blue, white, black stone, Product RED and various leathers) to help spruce up Apple's devices. The iPhone 7 will now start at $449, and the Phone 8 at $599. Following that, industry watchers say the new phones could be spoken as "Tennis Max", "Tennis" and "Tenner".

This bigger display will allow for richer, more customizable watch faces, which you can outfit with new complications including your favorite contacts and multiple time zones.

The event may see the Apple Watch getting its first significant redesign since its launch three years ago. It has a larger screen and a built-in heart sensor that the company said can detect irregular heart rates and perform an electrocardiogram. The Series 3 will continue to be sold, now at a cheaper $279 starting price.
