Luis Enrique staunchly defends Man United goalkeeper David de Gea's status as Spanish number one

Tottenham Hotspur and England hitman Harry Kane has reacted on Twitter after Saturday night's 2-1 defeat by Spain in Wembley.

Before the game, England coach Gareth Southgate had warned that his team still had much to prove on the worldwide stage, claiming that the country's winning record against world football's elite has been "non-existent" since the World Cup success in 1966.

Against England, Spain had far less possession than they were used to under World Cup caretaker coach Fernando Hierro and predecessors Julen Lopetegui and Vicente del Bosque but played with more goal and were more direct than before.

Luke Shaw is set to return to Manchester United's medical team on Monday after leaving the England squad having suffered concussion in the Nations League defeat to Spain.

"Going by numbers and performances, he is world's number one".

Two minutes later Carvajal rounded Shaw and squared to Rodrigo, who cut the ball back to Saul for a first-time finish inside Jordan Pickford's near post.

Spain's easy-on-the-eye style began to pick holes in England as the likes of Isco, Alcantara and Saul Niguez took charge.

Ramos, however, was quick to send Shaw a message of goodwill after he was forced off on a stretcher during Spain's 2-1 win over England.

With Shaw out, Danny Rose should start at left wing-back while Trent Alexander-Arnold could get a start on the opposite flank.

Before the incident, the full-back impressed on his first Three Lions start since 2015 and provided a superb assist for Rashford's opener.

They thought they had in stoppage time, when Danny Welbeck clipped it in after David de Gea's spill, but a freaky decision from a referee out of his depth saw it ruled out.

There was much to ponder for Southgate who has now seen his side lose three matches in a row against Croatia, Belgium and now Spain - proof they are still a work in progress.
