Valencia and Young Boys complete a tough Group H line-up for Mourinho, with last night's draw in Monaco also throwing up tough looking encounters for Tottenham and last year's finalists Liverpool.

Group C: Paris Saint-Germain, Napoli, Liverpool, Red Star Belgrade.

Inter Milan, back in the competition after a six-season absence, were pitted against Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur.

Real Madrid and Roma had already been drawn in Group G with Liverpool still in pot three.

An interesting group to say the least, each team with the exception of Club Brugge will fancy their chances of advancing to the next round.

Inter's wildly unpredictable form under Luciano Spalletti means anything can happen in Group B where they face Barcelona, PSV Eindhoven and Tottenham.

Group E: Bayern Munich, Benfica, Ajax, AEK Athens.

"Manchester City are a massive challenge for us", said Hoffenheim coach Julien Nagelsmann.

Group D: Lokomotiv Moscow, Porto, Schalke, Galatasaray. Who even remembers that Real Madrid actually came through last season's group of death, such is the lack of life and danger in this round for Europe's super-clubs?

Here's our winners and losers list from the group stage draw.

"He scored 15 goals in the Champions League and won the trophy with his teammates".

The first round of group games will be played on September 18 and 19, with the last matches on December 11 and 12.

Liverpool met Red Star Belgrade in the last 16 of the European Cup in 1973-74, with the Reds losing both the home and away legs.

The draw for this season's Europa League group stage, featuring the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and AC Milan, will take place in Monaco tonight.

The UEFA awards were completely dominated by Real Madrid as barring Modric, it was centre-back Sergio Ramos who won the UEFA defender of the year while it was Costa Rican stopper Keylor Navas who walked away with the best goalkeeper award.

Meanwhile, former Manchester United and England midfielder David Beckham was awarded the Uefa President's award.

Modric - who also won the Golden Ball at the World Cup in Russian Federation after leading Croatia to the final - added: "As I already said, I am really happy to be here". Hoffenheim, led by coach Julian Nagelsmann, have been steadily improving and I have a good feeling about them this season. "This is the best year of my career collectively and individually, so I am really enjoying, we have to keep working".

This group is the season's "group of life" as any of the four teams can definitely make it through to the next round.

"We want to defend our title for one more year", Emilio Butragueno, Real's Director of Institutional Relations, told Spanish television.
