Trump Expects to Revoke DOJ Official's Security Clearance

Reacting to President Donald Trump's decision to revoke former CIA Director John Brennan's security clearance, CNN host, Don Lemon, said Trump was using tactics straight out of a "dictator's playbook". Bruce Ohr may be his next target.

In an op-ed published by the Washington Post, McRaven, a former Navy SEAL who led US Joint Special Operations Command from 2011 to 2014, not only called Brennan "a man of unparalleled integrity", but volunteered to have his own security clearance revoked in an act of solidarity. "Bruce Ohr is a disgrace".

Webb argued that Brennan does not require a security clearance to go on television and wage a "partisan battle" against Trump and he is still empowered to say what he pleases.

Ohr works in the Justice Department's criminal division.

The Republican president also lashed out again at Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is leading an investigation into possible collusion between Trump's 2016 campaign and Moscow.

Trump told reporters he was likely to take away clearance access from Bruce Ohr, an official in the Department of Justice who is linked to a dossier on Trump's campaign and Russian Federation, compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele.

President Donald Trump brushed off criticism from retired Adm. William McRaven Friday on the lifting of security clearances of administration opponents.

President Donald Trump has demonstrated a noticeable fondness for military leaders, surrounding himself with officers such as Chief of Staff John Kelly, Defense Secretary James Mattis, and former national security adviser Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster.

Brennan, who led the Central Intelligence Agency during most of Obama's second term, has emerged as one of Trump's fiercest critics, denouncing his performance at a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin last month as "treasonous".

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday night, Trump called the move against Brennan "something that had to be done" because officials on the list "led" the "rigged witch hunt" Russian Federation investigation.

The White House says it's also continuing to review the clearances of Hayden and other officials, many of whom have criticized the president.

The White House said Wednesday that security clearances are under review for former U.S. National Intelligence director James Clapper, former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey, former Obama administration National Security advisor Susan Rice, former National Security Agency director Michael Hayden and former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates.

"There's no silence. If anything, I'm giving them a bigger voice". Last year, in a speech at the University of Texas, he pushed back against Trump's assault on the news media as "the enemy of the American people". "I think that they're very duplicitous".

McRaven has been a consistently vocal critic of Trump, saying in February 2017 that Trump's attacks on the free press "may be the greatest threat to democracy in my lifetime".
