Derby then pressed in search of a quick second but Bielsa's Leeds continued to attack and break at every opportunity and a fine move in the 21st minute saw United regain the lead.

The pace of Leeds was causing Derby problems and they were nearly in again in the 28th minute when Saiz powered through the middle, but his 20-yard shot was straight at Carson.

The damage, though, had already been as Leeds cruised to a victory that was even more impressive than the opening weekend win against deposed title favourites Stoke.

Hosts Derby have a brilliant record at Pride Park in this fixture having won nine of their last 12 home meetings with Leeds, losing on just one occasion. For his first home game Lampard's hand was forced by injuries to defender Curtis Davies and striker David Nugent.

'Lampard got shown up there for what he is, tactically naive.

The quality of Leeds movement forward caused Derby problems from the start and it was no surprise when Mateusz Klich fired a low shot past Scott Carson in the fifth minute.

The visitors only held the lead for seven minutes as Derby levelled with a goal that will give Leeds keeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell nightmares. Lawrence smashed the free kick over the wall and through the grasp of Peacock-Farrell, who appeared to have the shot covered but could not stop it.

Matheusz Klich opened the scoring for Leeds and despite Tom Lawrence equalising, a Kemar Roofe double and Ezgjan Aliosi's header sent Lampard tumbling to defeat.

Derby had a decent five-minute spell when Leeds looked less than secure at the back, but the West Yorkshire side weathered it and ended the first half as they started it, on the front foot. Carson was called into action to deny Roofe at point blank range with Tomori making a last-ditch block to deny Ayling on the rebound.

But it wouldn't be long before the third came, as Roofe received the ball in the penalty area and produced an exquisite turn to beat his man before hammering high into the net at Carson's near post.
