Salah on fire as Liverpool sink Hammers, Manchester City down Arsenal

Despite changes at half time, West Ham failed to address their issues from the first half.

"It's good people are positive, but the season again will be unbelievably hard".

LFC fans can not wait to get this campaign underway.

However, with his current deal tying him to Liverpool until 2022, and the Reds boss receiving significant financial backing during the recently closed transfer window, it seems Klopp plans to remain with the north west outfit for the long haul. I start every season with the highest ambition and want the maximum. A languid pre-season campaign coupled with four of their 10 new signings in the starting line-up only compounded matters for the Chilean. For us it was not flawless, but really good.

Liverpool beat City three times last season, as well as reaching a Champions League final, and Neville feels they pose a threat both in playing style on the pitch, and the feeling around the club off the pitch.

West Ham should have reduced the arrears shortly after the break.

"The champions are Manchester City; they didn't lose any player and they brought in (Riyad) Mahrez, so that doesn't make them weaker", warned Klopp, insisting Liverpool are still the underdogs.

As assured a Premier League debut as you are likely to see, Keita dominated the middle of the park and did not allow the West Ham midfielders to impose their game on this strong Liverpool side. After a disappointing 2016/17 season, Klopp strengthened key areas of the squad including centre-back and left-back. A 4-3 win at Arsenal and 3-3 draw at Watford!

The four goals today mean that the reds have scored four in each of the last four games against West Ham.

Alisson came to pre-season training later than the main group because of his involvement in the World Cup and has played just two friendlies against Napoli and Torino in the last six days.

Just 8 minutes in to the second half the "Irons" defence was too tame in dealing with a piercing run from Roberto Firmino, who slid the ball through to Mane who decisively added his second on the half-turn.

To say that Liverpool were underdogs in the competition last season would be an understatement. West Ham will need to regroup and continue to familiarise themselves with new faces before targeting their first win under Manuel Pellegrini when they host Bournemouth on Saturday.

And Daniel Sturridge, with what was essentially his first touch of the ball after entering the fray as a late substitute added insult to injury with just two minutes of normal time remaining when he added a fourth to give the scoreline a comprehensive look and one that Liverpool probably deserved, such was their dominance.

It was his goal since October, making it an impressive victory for Liverpool, who looks to dethrone Man City this season.
