Wake assistant coach Jamill Jones allegedly punched Boca Raton, Fla. resident Sabor Szabo in the head Sunday morning, according to a report from the New York Post.

Jones is accused of punching 35-year-old, Sandor Szabo, who is from Florida, and was in NY for a wedding in Long Island. He turned himself into authorities on Thursday and has plead not guilty to the charge. While intoxicated, the 35-year-old proceeded to bang on cars, including Jones' SUV, in search of his ride.

A Florida man visiting New York City for a wedding died this week after he was punched during an altercation over a mistaken Uber ride.

Jones, an assistant basketball coach at Wake Forest University, punched Szabo in the face, police said.

In a statement, Wake Forest said it would comment further once it gathers more information. He eventually died from his injuries.

Police say Jones confronted Sandor Szabo on a Queens street around 1:15 a.m. Sunday. Massena said the encounter between Jones and Szabo was "a tragic accident and we will deal with it in the courts". Investigators say that Jones got out and punched Szabo in the face; his head hit the pavement when he fell back and he lost consciousness. "Mr. Jones and his family, their deepest condolences go out to the Szabo family".

Jones is set to begin his second season on Danny Manning's Wake Forest staff after joining in the spring of 2017. "We are going to miss him dearly".

"The court made the proper ruling with the charges, and the District Attorney's office made the proper ruling with the charges", the statement read, per the Post. He began moving through the college ranks in 2013 at Florida Gulf Coast, before stints at VCU and Central Florida.
