He was then asked if the situation was tough for him considering his past close relationship with Newton when he was with the Panthers, and here's what he had to say.

"Moving on from it", Benjamin said repeatedly.

After getting drafted by Carolina in the first round in 2014, Benjamin was sent to Buffalo for two draft picks ahead of the 2017 trade deadline.

It wasn't clear how much love was on the table Thursday when Newton approached Benjamin on the field at New Era Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y., but the quarterback appeared to proffer a handshake that was rejected.

Benjamin had nothing to say and constantly walked away while dismissing the entire conversation.

Remember. the Bills wideout blasted Cam in the media this week - essentially blaming Newton for all of his struggles in Carolina the past few years.

After Benjamin's comments were published, McDermott expressed disapproval, saying Sunday (via ESPN), "There's a time and a place - I'm not saying specific to what comments were made - there's a time and place for things like that". I don't know, man ... He caught four passes for 59 yards and a touchdown in the preseason opener, while Newton completed 6 of 9 passes for 84 yards for the Panthers.

The Carolina Panthers opened the 2018 preseason with a 28-23 victory over their cousins from up north, the Buffalo Bills.
