Everton completed the deadline day signing of the Colombian defender, who was also a summer target for Manchester United, and joins in a £28.5 million deal.

The fee represents a healthy profit for the Spanish champions, who signed Mina from Palmeiras for €11.8m (£10.6m) only in January and obtained a buy-back option in the deal.

Everton had a dramatic end to the window, wrapping up deals for Bernard - the Brazil worldwide who arrived on a free from Shakthar Donetsk - and Andre Gomes, the Portuguese midfielder who had also been at Barcelona.

Barcelona can buy the centre-half back for around £30m if he does well at Goodison but, for now, he is an Everton player. A loan move for Chelsea's Kurt Zouma was also being worked on after a deal sheet was submitted to the Premier League for the defender.

Portuguese midfielder Gomes, 25, will join on a season-long loan at a cost of 2.25 million euros for the English club.

I worked hard during my holiday and now I am ready to play and do important things with the Club.

Gomes and Mina could be registered in time to face Wolves in the Premier League opener this Saturday, but that game may come too soon for them as they look to bed in at Everton. I have spoken a lot to the coach and I know his passion for Everton and determination to be successful.

"For me, it was really good to speak to him because I know how good he is and I feel motivated to work with him and to play for Everton, a great club".
