On Saturday, the Israeli army said an aircraft had fired at "a terrorist squad" launching "arson balloons" at Israel.

"The demands of Ship to Gaza are that the ship with its crew and cargo will be returned to the site of the boarding, and that they will be allowed to go in peace through worldwide and Palestinian waters in accordance to global law", they said in a statement.

According to al-Hayat al-Jadida, thousands protested in the city of Tel Aviv and other Arab towns in Israel against Israel's racist recent nation-state law.

"The IDF (Israel Defence Forces) clarified to the ship´s passengers that they are violating the legal naval blockade and that any humanitarian merchandise can be transferred to Gaza through the (Israeli) Port of Ashdod", an Israeli military statement said.

More than two million Palestinians are packed into the Gaza Strip, which suffers deep economic hardship.
