When LeBron James chose to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers in free agency for the second time, he was not met with as much pushback or criticism as the first time around. The I Promise School is the culmination of almost a decade of work by James' foundation, with its focus on educating children from challenging situations or backgrounds. The I Promise School opened in Akron on Monday, with the first students walking through the doors for the start of the public elementary school's inaugural school year.

Shareef O'Neal knows it's hard following in his National Basketball Association superstar dad's footsteps. but says Bronny James is thriving under that same spotlight. sharing a touching message to LeBron's oldest son. "He went to Akron public schools".

"The excitement that I have to be a Laker, I'm happy to be a part of it because I believe the Lakers (are) a historical franchise - we all know that", James continued. It has both a longer school day and a longer school year, there will be over 40 staff members, and students that complete the school's program (which has already been ongoing) will get tuition provided by James at the University of Akron, beginning in 2021. Thus, we have compiled three centers that the Los Angeles Lakers may look to acquire this season. I've walked the same streets, I've rode the same bikes on the streets that they ride on. The good, the bad, the adversity. Then you look at the Lakers. You look at the Lakers, and being able to play for a historic franchise, with so much history, you know?

The 33-year-old this summer left the Cleveland Cavaliers for the second time in his career, before moving to Hollywood on a four-year, $154million (£117m) deal. "And for it all to come to fruition at this point, I think timing is everything".

James is undeniably one of the greatest to ever grace the basketball court, and greatness comes with a price - especially for his teammates.
