The Lakers have prepared for the summer of 2018 for years, arranging cap space to add one or two stars to bring the team back to relevance in the National Basketball Association.

DeMarcus Cousins has agreed to join the Golden State Warriors, according to multiple reports. The team has been able to get by plugging that hole with guys like JaVale McGee, Kevon Looney, and Zaza Pachulia. Cousins can score in the post, along the elbows and from the perimeter.

Sam Amick reported this past weekend that Howard was interested in joining either the Warriors, the New Orleans Pelicans, the Washington Wizards, and wherever team LeBron James would ultimately end up.

"But even if that happens, they still won't beat Golden State", Johnson said.

Cousins will slot into the taxpayer mid-level exception for Golden State.

While waiting for Leonard to become a free agent next summer would allow the Lakers to hold onto their young players, it would leave the door open to a repeat of the scenario L.A. endured with George.

Think about that. Think about how much firepower the Warriors just added to a lineup that was already the most damaging in the league. Conversely, being able to field the two next season would nearly immediately turn the Lakers from a 35-win team into a force to be reckoned with. A part of it is they try to downplay his status because of his reputation of getting technical fouls and things like that.

Cousins is recovering from an Achilles injury that will likely keep him out until at least December. "But for me, I'm shooting to be ready for training camp".

Leonard, who only played nine games this past season due to a right quadriceps injury, has reportedly said his relationship with the Spurs can not be repaired.

Well, with the NBA's moratorium period not ending until 12:01 p.m. on July 6, Embiid and the Sixers still have some time to change James' mind.

Anthony Tolliver changed teams again, this time going back to one of his former stops - Minnesota, which will sign him to a one-year deal worth $5.75 million. When the New Orleans Pelicans signed Julius Randle to a two-year deal on Monday, it created the opportunity for Cousins to look elsewhere.

It is no surprised based on the strength of the Warriors roster, the team is way over the cap. Evans suffered the injury after accidentally stepping on a teammates' shoe.

But if you leave, can you please just beat the Warriors?
