Uruguay seal top spot in World Cup Group A with a 3-0 win over 10-man Russian Federation at the Samara Arena, with both Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani on the scoresheet.

Coach Stanislav Cherchesov had made two more changes but they also backfired spectacularly, with Igor Smolnikov sent off in the 36th minute after a second booking, and Fyodor Kudryashov equally overworked in defense.

Uruguay doubled their lead when Diego Laxalt's shot took a wicked deflection off the leg of defender Cheryshev and flew past the despairing Akinfeev on 23 minutes. Still, Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez sees the match as an opportunity to fine-tune the team for the next round. We wanted to win; we did not watch where we were playing.

"It's important that goal scorers score goals", Tabarez said. However, in this World Cup, both teams have done well.

Denis Cheryshev's own goal compounded Russia's misery 13 minutes later, with Smolnikov's dismissal - a second yellow card issued for a foul on Edinson Cavani prior to half time - all but ending hopes of a comeback. "They (Russia) had hard times, they lacked experience, but the managed to overcome their problems, which were clearly obvious in their (preceding to the World Cup) friendly fixtures".

Much of the pre-match focus of this game has been on whether we should be suspicious of Russia's stunning start to the competition.

The world Cup was held the matches of the final, the third round in group A. Our medical team will also advise us.

Mohamed Salah put Egypt ahead in the 22nd minute with when he deftly controlled a long ball from Abdalla Said that split the Saudi defense and then lobbed goalkeeper Yasser Almosailem. The decision was confirmed after a video review.

Russian Federation are the first European side to fail to top their group as the host nation since Spain in 1982.

England's opening World Cup game against Tunisia, when Kane scored a stoppage-time goal to seal a 2-1 win, was the most watched program in Britain in 2018 with a peak audience of 18.3 million - more than last month's royal wedding when Prince Harry married Meghan Markle.

The only advantage of the Russian national team's loss to Uruguay in the final round of the group stage of the World Cup is the place of the next match in the 1/8 finals - at the Moscow stadium Luzhniki. Tomorrow's match will decide on the victor of their Group A, which also enrolls the teams from Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
