Steve Levitan, the co-creator of Emmy-winning comedy "Modern Family", said on Twitter he was "disgusted" to work for the Fox television studio because it is owned by the same company as Fox News. "This bullshit is the opposite of what Modern Family stands for", he added.

"I have great respect for Dana Walden, Gary Newman, Peter Rice, and everyone at 20th Century Fox Studios who have all treated me so well for two decades", he said. The comment was in response to CNN's Brian Stelter, who tweeted that Fox News host Tucker Carlson told his viewers not to believe other news outlets.

Producers and directors, including director Judd Apatow (left) and actor and writer Seth MacFarlane (right), are speaking out against Fox News for its support of President Donald Trump. "But I too can not condone the support their news division promotes toward the immoral and abusive policies and actions taken by this current administration toward immigrant children". And predictably, Fox News has toed the commander-in-chief's line, with Laura Ingraham on Monday going so far as to dub these establishments "essentially summer camps [or] boarding schools". Apatow tweeted Monday. "Imagine if it was your kids".

Fox News and its entertainment divisions may be operated by separate companies in the future.

Apatow has called on "employees of all of Fox" to "speak up".

Levitan's disdain for Fox News runs deeper, as he said the network's "23-hour-a day support for the NRA, conspiracy theories and [President] Trump's lies gets harder to swallow every day as I drive onto that lot to make a show about inclusion".

Paul Feig, who directed 20th Century Fox's "Spy" and "The Heat", also expressed his outrage over Fox News' coverage. "How can you remain silent when they promote these policies?" Calling it "fringe s--", MacFarlane claimed Carlson was asking his fans to "blindly obey" the network. No matter which sale goes through, Fox News will splinter off with Fox Broadcasting, Fox Business Network and Fox Sports, which will all be spun off into a new, terrifying monstrosity tentatively called New Fox, but will probably just be called Trump Town or some shit.
