Alvarez-Golovkin rematch in September says DL Hoya

Surprise surprise

In boxing, threats, promises and deadlines are but grains in a giant salt shaker, so the boxing world didn't exactly lose its collective mind when Oscar De La Hoya declared Wednesday afternoon that the most anticipated fight of the year was dead.

That means Alvarez will be cleared to box in September on Mexican Independence weekend in the fight capital.

According to ESPN, Golden Boy's final offer was a split of 57.5 percent to 42.5 percent in Mr. Alvarez's favor.

De La Hoya's announcement came shortly after negotiations between Alvarez's and Golovkin's respective camps looked to be breaking down. We had a deal in place to fight Billy Joe Saunders at the end of August, ' Loeffler told ESPN.

It was the first time Golovkin did not win in his career.

"It's a huge opportunity for Canelo and, frankly, it's the biggest fight for both guys".

After 12pm Pt, there was no word on whether or not Gennady Golovkin took the deal to fight Canelo Alvarez on September 15th.

Alvarez received the lion's share of a 70-30 revenue split for that fight, and when the rematch was set for May 5, Alvarez was due to receive the lion's share of a 65-35 split. "100 percent there is no fight". Clearly the only person here who doenst want the fight is GGG.

They fought to a draw in the first meeting in September 2017.

"It's finally on", Loeffler said in a text to The Post. Golovkin (38-0-1, 34 KOs) still has the WBA and WBC belts. We bent over backwards. Loeffler at that point told this newspaper via telephone that the fighters were unwilling to budge.

Golovkin remained steadfast throughout a lengthy stretch of public and private negotiations that he would not bend on his demand for a 50-50 financial split.

Unbeaten Golovkin pummelled Vanes Martirosyan in a hastily-arranged fight in May to keep busy while Alvarez deal with the drugs case.
