‘Trash Panda’ scaled a Minnesota skyscraper, and everyone loved it

A raccoon that spent much of Tuesday climbing a skyscraper in St. Paul, Minn., has gathered a crowd of anxious followers from around the world.

Nearby Minnesota Public Radio branded the raccoon with the hashtag #mprraccoon.

It all began on Monday (June 12), when the racoon was stranded on the Town Square office building. At one point, a small crowd had gathered on the street to see what would happen next.

Looking like a smaller, hairier version of Spiderman, the raccoon was able to scale nearly the entire building, finally stopping to rest outside the Paige Donnelly Law Firm on the 23rd floor.

It appeared, by about 1:30 p.m. local time, he had almost reached the top of the building. He started climbing. And he's now on the 22nd floor.

"We're hoping the raccoon goes to the top of the building so we can help it out of its predicament", a spokesperson for the St. Paul Department of Safety and Inspection said, according to WCCO.

The UBS Plaza building is 25 stories tall.

"Any other measures we think would endanger him".

St Paul Animal Control believed it may have been there all night before it started heading skyward.

An extremely courageous (or extremely stupid) raccoon scaled a Minnesota building on Tuesday, shocking onlookers and sending Twitter into an anxious frenzy.
