A 30-year old man has been killed and two other men seriously injured after a shooting at a boxing club in Ireland linked to Olympic champion Katie Taylor.

The incident reportedly occurred at approximately 6:55 a.m. IST on Tuesday at the Bray Boxing Club in Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland, Katie Taylor's hometown.

A suspect fled the scene in a silver van.

Pete Taylor, 57, and an unidentified 35-year-old man were taken to an area hospital for treatment, according to various media outlets in the United Kingdom.

The gym is owned by Bray municipal council and operated by Mr Taylor. Pat Ward, an Irish police superintendent, confirmed that the injuries suffered by the two survivors are not thought to be life-threatening.

It is understood the father of three was shot as he answered the door of the gym, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Taylor is the father of world and former Olympic boxing champion Katie Taylor.

A garda spokesperson said: 'Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Bray Garda Station on 01 6665300'.

Local Sinn Fein MP John Brady said the incident had brought "another dark day for Bray".

There is still a heavy police presence at the club while forensic officers carry out their investigation.

Ireland's health minister Simon Harris also tweeted: 'Shocking news in Bray this morning.

The body of the man killed was removed from the boxing club at around 2pm and taken from the scene in a blacked out vehicle.
