New Hitman Announcement Teased for This Week

A logo which appeared literally saying "Hitman 2' was swiftly taken down, but not before some people managed to grab a few sneaky screenshots of it". Back in April, IO Interactive and Warner Bros signed a publishing deal for Hitman, which makes the news they're publishing the sequel fairly unsurprising. After 2012's Hitman: Absolution was launched to a lukewarm reception, IO Interactive (the franchise's creator and developer) fell into a bit of a lurch, eventually being purchased by Square Enix.

The most recent iteration of Hitman, 2016's reboot delivered in episodic form, received much praise and healthy sales, so there's every likelihood that Hitman 2 will follow a similar format.

Our guess is that Warner Bros will simply handle the distribution of the game and IO Interactive will retain the game's rights. Games' site (which you can find up above) where it was scheduled to have a reveal livestream later this week, as announced by the publisher earlier today.

Hitman's official Twitter page (@HITMAN) also posted a tweet on Monday that lends more credence to a future release in the very near future. The tweet says "Good afternoon, 47". Your next target is.
