Pine - whose character Steve Trevor appeared to (spoiler alert!) have died while performing a heroic act in the 2017 superhero hit - has been spotted around Washington, DC, where director Patty Jenkins is filming the follow-up.

Not too much is known of the new film this far, but DC Entertainment boss Geoff Johns has gone and dropped a hint on social media, that suggests when the movie will be set. (The original was set in World War 1) Is the title of the movie WW84?

Patty Jenkins has returned to direct. Jenkins, Johns and Dave Callaham (The Expendables) are penning the script. Zack Snyder is still a producer on the film. If so, "WW84" may be referring to the specific year in which the story takes place.

Some fans have embraced the film's '80s setting.

The franchise is breaking more than one record, though. Then again this film is about a war, so none of that would probably make it into the final film.

Gal Gadot is attached to return as the titular hero, which is also set to feature Kristen Wiig as Cheetah. Critics hailed it as the best DC film since The Dark Knight.

Wonder Woman 2 is slated for release on November 1, 2019, starring Gal Gadot as Diana. It was originally scheduled to premiere on December 13, 2019, but the bigwigs made a decision to move it up to avoid competing with Star Wars: Episode IX.
