LIVE - UEFA Europa League Final: Olympique de Marseille v Atlético de Madrid SAD

Atletico were favourites to win the competition after dropping into the tournament from the UEFA Champions League.

Our coverage of the 2017/2018 UEFA Europa league ends tonight as Atletico Madrid face Olympique Marseille in the finals. However, Atletico hit the front midway through the first half, capitalising on some poor defending by l'OM to send Griezmann through for the opener.

Speaking after winning the Europa League for the third time, Simeone said: 'Whatever he wants to do, I am happy. "That first trophy was the key to everything that came later". Gabriel Fernandez then found Griezmann and, after waiting for Steve Mandanda to move, he slotted the ball home coolly in what could be his last game for Los Rojiblancos.

That brings Griezmann to 29 goals and 15 assists for 2017-18, and you can see why even teammate Filipe Luis considers his €100m release clause a steal.

"Antoine - if he stays we'll continue to grow and develop", the Argentinian said. "I'm going to be grateful to this team always". They had previously won the Europa League in 2010 and again in 2012, the latter coming just six months after Simeone's appointment.

Griezmann has enjoyed doing the "Take The L" dance after scoring goals against Real Madrid, Arsenal and now Marseille, and he probably spends way too many hours playing the game, like half of the world seems to be doing. The white and light blue majority were bouncing up and down throughout the opening stages, with their team quicker into challenges, and Valere Germain missing a great chance to really shock Atletico after just three minutes.

"Payet's injury obviously hurt us". Dimitri Payet and Florian Thauvin, two of the chief architects of OM's run to their first European final since 2003/04, linked up to sweep their side up the pitch - Payet then slipped the ball through to Valère Germain.
